Drawings by Tryggvi Magnússon

    Drawings by Tryggvi Magnússon

Today, Ingibjörg Steinunn Sverrisdóttir, National Librarian, and Andrés Úlfur Helguson, a descendant of Tryggvi Magnússon, signed an agreement on the transfer of Tryggvi's drawings to the National Library of Iceland - University Library. Tryggvi was one of the nation's best-known illustrators of the twentieth century and designed, among other things, the Icelandic coat of arms, the ancient cards, illustrations for the Santa Claus poem by Jóhannes úr Kötlar, and was for many years the caricature illustrator for Spegilsinn. He left behind a large number of drawings that will now be preserved at the National Library. The drawings will be placed in appropriate packaging and they will be registered and classified. In the coming months, an exhibition of Tryggvi's drawings will be held at the museum.

Andrés Úlfur is working on writing about Tryggvi Magnússon and is looking for further sources about and after him for registration. Interested parties can send an email to skjaldarmerkid@gmail.com .
