Sjón and Steinunn Sigurðardóttir

In the fall of 2014, a small exhibition was set up in the museum with several foreign editions of translations of books by Sjón and Steinunn Sigurðardóttir, both of whom have had their works translated into many languages in recent years, and the appearance of the books is pleasantly diverse.

Sjón has published a number of poetry books and novels, has written plays and published material for children. In parallel with his writing career, Sjón has participated in art exhibitions and various musical events. He has worked with Björk, writing music, lyrics and music videos with her, including lyrics for her music in Lars Von Trier's film, Dancer in the Dark (2000). Sjón's works have been translated into many languages. He received the Nordic Council Literature Prize in 2005 for the novel Skugga-Baldur .

Steinunn Sigurðardóttir published her first book, the poetry collection Sífellur, at the age of 19, and it immediately attracted attention. In 1995, she received the Icelandic Literary Prize for the novel Hjartastað . Her books have been translated into other languages, and a French film based on the novel Tímaþjófinum was released in 1999. Steinunn was a reporter and radio and television correspondent intermittently from 1970-1982. She has also worked as a journalist and program producer for radio and television. Steinunn has spent longer and shorter periods in various European countries, the United States, and Japan.
