Nominations for the May Star Poetry Prize were presented at Gunnarshús on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. All published Icelandic poetry books of the year 2024, a total of 62, that were submitted to the National and University Library of Iceland were eligible. 

The nominated books are, in alphabetical order: 

Aðlögun – Þórdís Gísladóttir. Publisher: Benedikt.

I Think About It – Anton Helgi Jónsson. Publisher: Language and Culture.

Flaumgosar – Sigurbjörg Þrastardóttir. Publisher: JPV.

Mind-bending Machines – Árni Jakob Larsson. Publisher: Sæmundur.

Disgusting Things – Sunneva Kristín Sigurðardóttir. Publisher Pirrandi väytning. 

Þar sem dragsúgurinn er hvítur refur – Eyþór Árnason. Publisher: Bjartur – Veröld.

The Maístjarnan Poetry Prize is the only prize in Iceland awarded exclusively for a published Icelandic book of poetry. Nominated books are on display in the lobby of the National and University Library. 

The awards will be presented at a ceremony at the National Library on Wednesday, May 14th at 3 p.m.

The jury is composed of Sölvi Björn Sigurðsson on behalf of the Icelandic Writers' Association and Kamilla Einarsdóttir on behalf of the National and University Library of Iceland.
