On Thursday, December 6, Kristín Svava Tómasdóttir, historian and poet, will deliver the talk "Raw materials and stories - by Steindór Sigurðsson at the National Library of Iceland - University Library" in the lecture series Tímanna safn , which is being held on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the National Library of Iceland - University Library.
In her talk, Kristín Svava Tómasdóttir will discuss the National Library of Iceland – University Library as a platform for historical research and dissemination, as a diverse platform for both raw materials and history. From what raw materials is the story – or stories – constructed and how are they created? What determines which stories are told and in what way? What role does the museum play in that process? These questions will be discussed in the lecture with reference to the story of the writer Steindór Sigurðsson (1901-1949) and his presence will be sought on the various shelves of the National Library. Steindór is best known for his pamphlets about the “situation” during the years of World War II, but he left behind a number of other works, such as crime and love stories, poems and memoirs.
The talk will be given in the National Library's lecture hall between 12:05 and 12:45.
You are all very welcome.
