Project activities 2017
The National Library
Thursday, March 16th, 5:00 PM–10:00 PM
Work on projects one evening in good company
– against procrastination and writing anxiety
A program at the National Library for all students at the University of Iceland who have projects in progress, small or large, course projects or final projects.
- Motivational education available.
- Expert guidance on all things project writing
- Workshops and micro-courses on effective library searches
Everyone welcome!
The goals of the vigil are:
- to give students the opportunity to work on their projects outside of traditional working hours for one evening and receive help and encouragement from peers, teachers or other University employees,
- to draw attention to the major problem in universities around the world where many students are anxious about writing and many drop out of school when only the final project remains,
- to raise awareness that it is possible to assist authors at all stages of the writing process and to help those who have put off projects for too long get started.
(A model for a project vigil is taken from writing studios in Germany, which held the first vigil in 2010 under the name Lange Nacht der aufgeschobenen Hausarbeiten . The project has spread to universities in both the East and West and is called Long night against procrastination in English.)
