The objectives of the project vigil are:

to give students the opportunity to work on their projects outside of traditional working hours for one evening and receive assistance and encouragement,
to draw attention to the major problem in universities around the world that many students are anxious about writing and procrastinate on assignments, most often final projects, and many therefore drop out of their studies when only the final project remains,
to raise awareness that it is possible to assist students at all stages of the writing process and to help them get started who have put off projects for too long.

The project is supported by the University of Iceland's Publishing House and Student Counseling, the National Library of Iceland - University Library, and the Health Sciences Library of the National Hospital and the University of Iceland.
