Gígja Hólmgeirsdóttir, the host of the radio show Víðsvegar on RÚV, visits the National Library in a new episode. There, she walks around the building and talks to the National Librarian and museum experts about the operations, collection, and projects of the National Library of Iceland – University Library.
In the episode, Gígja talks to the National Librarian about the role of the library, its operations and development. She also meets with experts in different fields and learns about projects that visitors to the National Library may not necessarily notice during their daily visit.
During her tour of the building, Gígja will learn about the collection and preservation of Icelandic publications, manuscripts, documents, audio material, and digital cultural heritage. She will talk to staff about the collection they work with and how sources are preserved, recorded, and made accessible to the public and the academic community.
The episode thus provides insight into different aspects of the National Library's operations and the staff's projects, which largely take place behind the scenes.
