International Open Access Week is October 23rd – 29th, 2017.
This week's theme: "Open in order to..." which translates into Icelandic: "Open in order to...".
To mark the week, a presentation of the University of Iceland's open access policy , ORCID identifiers, and the Open Science repository was held on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at 12:20 – 13:00 at Háskólatorg in room 103.

Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 8:30-9:45 in the lecture hall at the National Library there were two talks:
- Anna Sigríður Guðnadóttir, librarian and information scientist at the Health Sciences Library of LSH and the University of Iceland, gave the talk "The European Union's OpenAIRE project, what is it about?"
- Sigurgeir Finnsson, library and information scientist at the National and University Library of Iceland, gave the talk "Open access, what is it?" See Sigurgeir's slides
