On Thursday, January 31st at 10:30, Bragi Þ. Ólafsson will give a lecture on Jón Árnason's folklore manuscripts in the museum's lecture hall, which is currently hosting an exhibition to mark 150 years since the first volume of Icelandic Folktales and Adventures was published.
Jón Árnason's folk tales have lived with the nation for 150 years and have become firmly established as a part of Icelandic national culture. Jón and his companions put a lot of effort into collecting and publishing the tales, as they are numerous in both size and type. Behind this work lie numerous manuscripts, letters and working documents by Jón and others, which will be explained in the talk.
Everyone welcome
