Hagþenkir, the Association of Non-fiction and Educational Writers in Iceland conferred it´s special award for academic work of outstanding quality to Erla Hulda Halldórsdóttir for her book on the life of Sigríður Pálsdóttir, Strá fyrir straumi. Ævi Sigríðar Pálsdóttur 1809–1871. Publisher Bjartur.

Hagþenkir´s Accreditation Council states: “An impressive biography that sheds new light on the 19th century and provides a unique insight into the world of women. Based on Sigríður Pálsdóttir's valuable letters to her brother that span half a century.

The award was given at a ceremony on February 25 in the National and University Library, and at the same time a small exhibition with documents related to the publication was opened.
