Icelandic author Elías Mar (1924-2007) wrote his best known novel Vögguvísa (Lullaby) in 1950. In cooperation with Reykjavík Unesco City of Literature and the festival Reykjavík Reads an exibition opens at the National and University Library of Iceland on October 23rd about Elías Mar and his writings, expecially Vögguvísa. The book is about teenagers and their search for themselves - just a few years after Iceland´s declaration of independence. Elías Mar collected slang in downtown Reykjavík around 1950 and used it in his book Vögguvísa.
