Njáll Sigurðsson initiated this exhibition on the occasion of the centenary of phonography in Iceland, which opened at the National Library on September 25, 2004. In addition to the National Library of Iceland – University Library, the exhibition was attended by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Culture, the Icelandic National Broadcasting Corporation, the Association of Performers and Record Producers, the Árni Magnússon Foundation, Sögumiðlún ehf, the National Museum of Iceland and the National Archives of Iceland, as well as the Akureyri Museum and the County Library. Anna Jensdóttir, Njáll Sigurðsson and Markús Örn Antonsson gave talks at the opening and sound examples from the early days of phonography in Iceland were played. Ólafur J. Engilbertsson designed the exhibition, which was also set up at RÚV and the County Library in Akureyri, and a brochure was published on the occasion.
