    Jon Jonsson from Borgfjordur.

A small exhibition about the librarian, scholar and police officer Jón Jónsson Borgfirðing (1826–1912) has been opened on the 1st floor of the National Library. Jón collected books and manuscripts from all over the country with great enthusiasm in the mid-nineteenth century, which later ended up in the National Library. Through the collection, he gained valuable knowledge of Icelandic book history and many people approached him for information about Icelandic books, newspapers and magazines, both domestic and foreign scholars. He also compiled publications in the field that can be seen in the exhibition, along with various artifacts from the possession of his descendants. The exhibition will run until the end of November.
