    The National and University Library of Iceland and the Music Centre have signed a cooperation agreement on the preservation of Icelandic musical works.


    The cooperation agreement between the National Library of Iceland – University Library and the Music Centre marks an important milestone in the preservation of Icelandic music. The signing of this agreement now formalizes the steps that have previously been taken towards ensuring the long-term preservation of the Music Centre's original materials, which the National Library of Iceland – University Library has preserved since 2009.
    The objective of the cooperation agreement is threefold:

    The mandatory submission to the National Library of Iceland – University Library of published material by composers, which the Music Centre has arranged to mark with ISMN numbers, should be put in place and it should be decided how access to that material should be arranged.
    The continued preservation of the Music Centre's music manuscripts – original materials – in the National and University Library of Iceland shall be ensured.
    Submit to the National Library of Iceland – University Library for preservation musical manuscripts that are in the custody of the Music
