There will be a reading from poetry books that have been nominated for the May Star Poetry Award in the Library´s lecture hall at 12-13 PM, Wednesday, May 8.

Nominated books are:

Áður en ég breytist by Elías Knörr 

Dulstirni/Meðan glerið sefur by Gyrðir Elíasson 

Vandamál vina minna by Harpa Rún Kristjánsdóttir 

Flagsól by Melkorka Ólafsdóttir and Una Hlíf Bárudóttir 

Til hamingju með að vera mannleg by Sigríður Soffía Níelsdóttir 

Í myrkrinu fór ég til Maríu by Sonja B. Jónsdóttir

Eligible were all published Icelandic poetry books of the year 2023 that were submitted through legal deposit to the National and University Library of Iceland.

The May Star Poetry Award is the only award in Iceland that is awarded exclusively for a published Icelandic book of poetry. Nominated books are on display at the entrance to the lecture hall of the National Library.

All published Icelandic poetry books of the year 2023, a total of 83, which were returned to the National Library of Iceland - University Library were eligible.

The jury consists of Guðrún Eva Mínervudóttir on behalf of the Writers' Association and Jakub Stachowiak on behalf of the National and University Library of Iceland.

The award will be presented at a ceremony in the National and University Library of Iceland on May 15.
