The Icelandic Museum Prize

On May 18, on the International Museum Day, the National Museum of Iceland received the Icelandic Museum Prize for the new Preservation and Research Center in Kopavogur, together with the Handbook on Preservation of Collections. The Icelandic Department of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and the Icelandic Museums Association (FÍSOS) are caretakers of the Prize that is presented every other year to an Icelandic Museum for outstanding activities.

The President of Iceland Guðni Th. Jóhannesson presented Margrét Hallgrímsdóttir Director of the National Museum with the National Heritage Prize at a ceremony in the Culture House. Rannver H. Hannesson conservator at the National and University Library of Iceland participated in the Handbook on the Preservation of Collection on behalf of the Library by writing an article on the storage of paper items but the Handbook is a collaborative project of the National Museum, the National Library and the National Archives.
