The National and University Library of Iceland in conjuction with the Writers’ Union of Iceland, will present the May Star Poetry Award, on May 15 at the National Library.

Nominations to the May Star 2023 were presented on April 17 at Gunnarshús.

Nominated books are:

Áður en ég breytist by Elías Knörr 

Dulstirni/Meðan glerið sefur by Gyrðir Elíasson 

Vandamál vina minna by Harpa Rún Kristjánsdóttir 

Flagsól by Melkorka Ólafsdóttir and Una Hlíf Bárudóttir 

Til hamingju með að vera mannleg by Sigríður Soffía Níelsdóttir 

Í myrkrinu fór ég til Maríu by Sonja B. Jónsdóttir

Nominated books of poetry will be on display in the Library’s entrance from April 23.

Eligible were all published Icelandic poetry books of the year 2023 that were submitted through legal deposit to the National and University Library of Iceland.

Guðrún Eva Mínervudóttir, appointed by the Writer‘s Union of Iceland and Jakub Stachowiak appointed by the National and University Library of Iceland, are the judging panel.
