18.09.2024

Magnús Pálsson visited the National Library of Iceland recently with his wife Frances Cowan and Þórunn Þorgrímsdóttir. Magnús donated material connected to his work in the theatre. Included are costume designs for Antigone, premiered at the National Theatre of Iceland in 1955 directed by Baldvin Halldórsson, scripts, admission tickets for Gríma‘s performances and a large collection of digital material.

Magnús‘ theatre career spans decades, he started working at the National Theatre shortly after it opened, later he also worked for the Reykavík City Theatre and various other theatre companies. He was one of the founders of Gríma, a legendary Icelandic theatre company. Ingibjörg Steinunn Sverrisdóttir National Librarian, Örn Hrafnkelsson Director of national collections and digital conversion, and Sigríður Jónsdóttir specialist at the Theatre Museum met with the guests.
