On 14 November the ambassador of Germany in Iceland gave Jón Árnason's printing press manuscripts of Icelandic folk tales and fairy tales to the National Library of Iceland for safekeeping at a ceremony in the National and University Library of Iceland. The manuscript was considered lost for a long time, but was discovered in the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek in Munich in 1971, where it has since been preserved. Speeches were given by Clarissa Duvigneau, the German Ambassador, Lilja Dögg Alfreðsdóttir, Minister of Culture and Business Affairs, the National Librarian Ingibjörg Steinunn Sverrisdóttir, Örn Hrafnkelsson, Director of Preservation at the National Library and Vilhjálmur Bjarnason, the promoter of the project.
