The 30th anniversary of the library building was celebrated on December 4, and at the same time the publication of the National and University Library of Iceland's book of treasures - was celebrated.

The editors of the book Tímanna safn, Halldóra Kristinsdóttir and Hildur Ploder Vigfúsdóttir, introduced it and two authors read chapters from the book.

The book is published by the Icelandic Literary Society in collaboration with the library. The intention of the edition is to shed light on the diversity of the library´s treasures. Attention is drawn to subjects that have been little discussed before, mixed with better-known treasures in the collection. Photographs of each chosen item are published along with a text describing it. The authors of the text are both current and former employees of the library.

An exhibition of selected artifacts has been opened in the library.
