Nominations for the May Star Poetry Prize were presented in Gunnarshús on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. All published Icelandic poetry books of the year 2024, a total of 62, that were donated to the National and University Library of Iceland were eligible.

The nominated books are, in alphabetical order:

Aðlögun – ​​Þórdís Gísladóttir. Publisher: Benedikt.

Ég hugsa mig  – Anton Helgi Jónsson. Publisher: Mál og menning.

Flaumgosar – Sigurbjörg Þrastardóttir. Publisher: JPV.

Geðhrærivélar – Árni Jakob Larsson. Publisher: Sæmundur.

Ógeðslegir hlutir – Sunneva Kristín Sigurðardóttir. Publisher: Pirrandi.

Þar sem dragsúgurinn er hvítur refur – Eyþór Árnason. Publisher: Bjartur - Veröld.

The May Star Poetry Prize is the only prize in Iceland awarded exclusively for a published Icelandic book of poetry. Nominated books are on display in the lobby of the National Library.

The prize will be awarded at a ceremony in the National Library on Wednesday May 14 at 15:00.

The jury is composed of Sölvi Björn Sigurðsson on behalf of the Icelandic Writers' Association and Kamilla Einarsdóttir on behalf of the National and University Library of Iceland.
