A large number of the material that the manuscript collection receives today are private archives from the twentieth century. However, the occasional manuscript and private papers from the nineteenth and even eighteenth centuries are brought to the manuscript collection. In December, the private papers of reverend Magnús Hákonarson (1812-1875) were given to the manuscript collection, and at the same time, a manuscript containing the hymns of passion by Hallgrímur Pétursson (1614-1674) was lent to the manuscript collection for digitization (https://handrit.is/is/manuscript/view/Einkaeign-0017). That manuscript was written in 1740 (the hymns of passion were first published in print in 1666) and was recently found in an antique shop in Germany.
