A symposium in memory of Halldór Hermannsson, curator at the Fiske Icelandic Collection at Cornell University in the United States will be held in the lecture hall of the National and University Library of Iceland 11-12. October. The symposium is held to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the National and University Library of Iceland, in collaboration with The Fiske Icelandic Collection at Cornell University in the United States, the Árni Magnússon Institute for Icelandic Studies and the United States Embassy in Iceland. Halldór Hermannsson was one of our major and most accomplished bibliographers. His registry of the Fiske Icelandic Collection publications was used as a catalog in many Icelandic collections, and his bibliography published in the Islandica series is a foundation for research in Nordic studies.

The symposium will be mostly in Icelandic.
