The 12th International Open Access Week was held 21-27 October 2019. The theme this year was Open for whom? Equity in Open Knowledge. On that occasion, the Library shared various content related to open access on its website daily.

Sigurgeir Finnsson, the Project manager for Open access at the National and University Library of Iceland, wrote the article Leikhús fáránleikans, about Open access and publishing.

Other content included:

• OpenAIRE organised a series of webinars (and more) during Open Access Week 2019. The webinars and/or slides can be accessed here.
• Sara Stef. Hildardóttir, Library Director at Reykjavík University, wrote an article about the importance of open access in research.
• Paywall: The Business of Scholarship, is a documentary which focuses on the need for open access to research and science.
• Opin vísindi is the repository for all the universities in Iceland. There university staff can publish a pre-print or post-print of their articles in Open Access even though the publisher version in not in Open Access.
• Þórný Hlynsdóttir Library Director at Bifröst University, wrote the article Barátta háskóla fyrir aðgangi að eigin rannsóknum.
