In memory of the writer Guðrún Helgadóttir, a small selection of her works has been compiled in the library. Guðrún was one of the most beloved children's authors in the country. She published her first children's book in 1974, the book about the twins Jón Oddur and Jón Bjarni. Her books have been translated into many languages ​​such as Swedish, German and Japanese. The twins' adventures were later filmed and many of her works have found their way onto the stage. Guðrún received various awards during her long career, including the Grand Knight's Cross of the Order of the Falcon in 1991 and the Nordic Children's Book Prize for the book Undan illgresinu in 1992. All of Guðrún's books are preserved in the library, including translations into many languages.
