By the end of the year 2011, the National and University Library of Iceland signed an agreement with OCLC about a national partnership subscription to Web-Dewey which is the Dewey Decimal Classification System on-line. The Library supervises the management and financing of the subscription and assigns passwords. Five libraries besides the National Library have participated from the beginning and now the participating libraries are 15. Subscription to the Web-Dewey contributes to the coordination of classification and provides consistent access to the most recent updates of the classification system.
The Dewey Decimal Classification System, along with the relative index, which the National and University Library published in 2002 in Icelandic translation is out of print, but an electronic copy can be accessed through bækur.is.
