Lárus Sigurbjörnsson‘s Drama Collection

In 1993, the children of Lárus Sigurbjörnsson (1903-1974), former Reykjavík City Archivist and Antiquarian, bequeathed to the National and University Library of Iceland all his collection of drama works, and it was moved to the Library in 1995. Lárus was in many aspects a pioneer in Icelandic drama during the last century and he collected everything that had to do with Icelandic theatrical history. In his collection there are not only manuscripts of most Icelandic and translated plays that were performed on stage in Iceland while he was around, but also theatrical literature, programmes, cuttings from Icelandic and foreign newspapers, as well as many other items related to the theatre.
