Journals and Newspapers

The Library provides access to a variety of journals and newspapers in printed and in electronic form. The library subscribes to foreign journals in many scientific fields besides receiving all Icelandic newspapers and journals through legal deposits as the National Library. This includes newsletters, yearbooks, school magazines and newspapers. Newspapers and journals in printed form can be used on the third floor of the National Library Building from the Icelandic National Collection on the first floor. Electronic journals especially subscribed to by the Library or by the University of Iceland are accessible only through the University Network. Several Icelandic newspapers and journals are accessible in electronic form through the web timarit.is. Newspapers and journals are not circulated outside the building.
