Manuscripts and Private Archives

The Manuscript Collection is located on the first floor. It holds approxamently 15.000 manuscripts and 1.300 private archives. A catalogue of the collections is to be found on this page.

Request for material must be submitted before 9.30 and 13.30 daily by telephone 525 5678, email handrit (hja) landsbokasafn.is or in person.

Handrit.is holds catalog information and pictures of selected manuscripts.

Manuscript Collection accepts manuscripts and private archives. We encourage everyone that has old documents in their possession to come to us with their preservation in mind.
